Film Noir Cocktail Series Installment 1: Citizen Cane
This is the first installment of a series of cocktails based on the silver screen classics of days gone by. I've always been fascinated by this era, especially from a cocktail standpoint. Many feel this is the last true era of imbibing before it all went wrong.
In the 1941 film, Citizen Kane, Orsen Welles writes, directs, produces, and stars as Charles Foster Kane. The character of Kane is based loosely on real life newspaper tycoon, William Randolph Hearst. Our protagonist begins a life of social service, but eventually crumbles under his own pursuit of power. I like to think perhaps he would have benefited from a trip to the Caribbean for some rum rhapsodies. Could you imagine it: stressed out newspaper mogul sips rum on the beach in Jamaica? Extra Extra! Read all about it!
